Project Overview
Victory Field is the home of the Indianapolis Indians and was built on 14 acres within White River State Park. The ballpark showcases panoramic views of downtown Indianapolis that are some of the best in the city. Victory Field has been recognized as the “Best Minor League Ballpark in America” by Baseball America and Sports Illustrated and features 28 luxury suites, five suite-level party areas, two picnic areas, and can host over 14,000 guests.

Challenge
The First and Third Base Party Terraces are Victory Field’s largest and most popular private hospitality areas. Previously installed epoxy was delaminating from the substrate and not providing the durability needed for these high-traffic areas. Because these event spaces are always in demand, a durable, visually appealing, slip resistant surface was needed that was also easy to keep clean. The area behind the guest suites had not been coated previously and needed a brighter, more finished look.

Management wanted to be sure the material selected would withstand heavy use and still be visually appealing. “One of our main goals was to choose flooring material that would look great and last for years to come” said Tim Hughes, who has been the Senior Director of Facilities for over 20 years. “The clients who book special events expect a top-notch experience and a well-appointed environment and that is what we aim to provide.”

Solution
Res-Tek’s acrylic methyl-methacrylate (MMA) Self-Leveling Colored Flake System was selected for its durability, quick cure time, and attractive appearance. It was installed both behind the suites and in the party terrace areas. A variety of different color flake blends were used in these and several other areas and along the main concourse. Aluminum oxide was added to provide slip resistance where needed to prevent slip and falls and increase guest safety. Areas affected by rain especially needed this added protection.

The management of Victory Field has been very pleased with the finished areas and how these event areas now reflect the high level of quality offered by the facility.
