Do You Have A Flooring Need?

Cherry Street Brewpub

Cumming, GA

Project Overview
Craft breweries have become the staple of attracting additional visitors to commercial areas and developments.

Cherry Street Brewpub at Halcyon is a restaurant with an excellent menu opened by Cherry Street Brewing’s founder, Nick Tanner. Thanks to the legalities surrounding alcohol distribution in the state of Georgia, Nick is unable to transfer beer brewed at the main brewery to the restaurant without selling to a distributor first. This means that Cherry Street Brewpub had to have its own brewing system. To save on space and keep brewing operations out of the way from patrons, this brewery was installed above the tasting room.

Challenge
Any brewery should be using urethane cement flooring in the brewing areas or commercial kitchens. With the brewery sitting above occupied space however, there was concern that the urethane cement may crack. Any cracks could grow or spread and ultimately lead to water, chemicals, or even worse, wasted beer leaking through the substrate to the first level below.

Solution
We recommended that the bottom half of Res-Tek’s DEK-Guard™ PU/MMA coating system be used underneath the PUR-Guard, Res-Tek’s urethane cement. DEK-Guard is extremely flexible with a 450% elongation and would prevent any cracking that occurred in the substrate from telegraphing through to the top of the urethane cement system. The PUR-Guard system created a bathtub effect for waterproofing while also maintaining strong chemical resistance and a high thermal shock resistance around 220°F.
